Foreshadowing the American Illiad 1861-65
In 1783, after the American War for Independence, a British captain confiding these prescient words to an American General:
When all of you are in your graves, there will be wars and rumors of wars in this country. There are too many different interests in it, for them to be united. One of those days, the northern and southern powers will fight as vigorously against each other, as they both united to do against the British.
